Dealing with dead boats

| John Roe, one of the founding members of the Dead Boats Disposal Society, will be presenting the work of the Society and some of the challenges and successes they have experienced.

John Roe started with the Dead Boats Society in 2017, facilitating the removal of over 285 abandoned vessels and 995,000 tons of marine debris.  He has worked with the Transport Canada Abandoned Boats Program with the Capital Regional District, the Provincial Clean Coast BC Program, and many private companies and groups wishing to clean up our oceans.

John’s work has included documenting locations of abandoned vessels and marine debris on the BC Coastline, assessments of environmental impacts, possible contaminants, filing of documents and vessel particulars, and environmental monitoring during removals.”
