Join us on World Oceans Day for a celebration of the conservation and restoration work in Howe Sound
We will view some video of the Átl’ḵa7tsem/Howe Sound UNESCO Biosphere Region followed by a presentation and discussion by the Howe Sound Biosphere Region Initiative Society.
Adam Taylor will talk about the work of the Marine Life Sanctuaries Society. “Making the world a better place, one no-take marine protected sanctuary at a time” At least 3 of the sponge reefs identified in Howe Sound so far are diveable! Sponge reefs in Howe sound exist at depths of 90-160 feet, and are some of the only diveable sponge reefs in the world!
Imagine a Howe Sound where biodiversity is protected, people and companies benefit from a sustainable economy, and current and future residents and visitors are able to enjoy the region’s natural, cultural, and social resources.
